Discover the Past at Our Ice Age Dig Discovery Day at Stump Cross Caverns! (This Discovery Day is for Age 5+ only as it is a real archaeological dig) 

Step back in time and uncover the secrets of the Ice Age with a full day of prehistoric adventure!

Your Discovery Day Bundle Includes:

• A morning self-guided cave visit (approximately 1 hour)
• Admission to our interactive Ice Age Dig (10am - 11am, 11:30am - 12:30pm, 1pm - 2pm, 2:30pm - 3:30pm or 4pm - 5pm)
• A second UV Cave Experience from 3:00pm onwards
• A bag of Crystal mining rough to pan for real gems in our outdoor sluice . 

When booking, simply choose your morning cave entry time, ensuring to allow an hour for this before or after the Ice Age Dig. Our café will be open throughout the day, serving hot and cold drinks, light meals, cakes and snacks.

Morning Cave Exploration (1 hour)

Start your adventure by exploring our spectacular cave system at your own pace. Along the way, choose one of our themed children's trails—Fossils, Fairies or Dino Hunt—and search for hidden clues throughout the caverns. Every child receives a prize for completing their trail!

Ice Age Dig

Led by our very own Cavewoman, each 1 hour session gives you the chance to work through authentic cave mud with your own hands and uncover traces of the Yorkshire Dales as it was thousands of years ago. Every handful holds the potential for something extraordinary.

UV Cave Experience (From 3:00pm)

As the lights dim, return underground armed with a UV torch to witness the cave in a completely different way. Watch fluorescent minerals glow in vibrant colours and experience the hidden magic of Stump Cross Caverns.

Mining Rough
